Ten days to go!

Less than two weeks to go now, and everything seems to be speeding up! We decided to make our show an event where people would get involved. We asked our neighbour clubs if they would support this concept by bringing participation and demonstration games to Legionary. What has happened has been frankly staggering. We now have the biggest number of show games that we have ever had, and with quality and diversity to match. To give you a flavour we have role playing (Pathfinder, and super heroes), fantasy, pulp, science fiction, historical, VBCW, aerial combat (including a challenge table), skirmish games to grand tactical, metal figures to plastic figures, 6mm to 28mm, and finally dinosaurs chasing Hitler through the jungle! A breathtakingly wide spectrum. So to all our neighbours who have contributed you have almost made us speechless. Nearly! Thank you so much.

Our traders are delivering the goods as well. New companies have answered our “call to arms” and supported us by providing a wider and deeper offer for our customers. Have a look at our Traders Page to see who is here, and the promotions which are supporting them.

Finally to support the participation gaming event Phil & Sue Barker will be attending to pick the best participation game, and present The Barker Award on the day. Having heard of our efforts to make this an interactive wargames event they have made the trek from The Midlands to offer their support.

See you on the day!

It is now only five weeks until Legionary 2013 and it’s looking good. We have a excellent number and range of games booked in, from French & Indian War to British superhero Roleplaying, and Napoleon at War to Infinity and Dystopian Wars – and many of these are participation games, giving you the chance to roll some dice and get involved. Our traders cover most popular figure ranges, roleplaying, board games and scenery. And tournement tickets are still on sale for the warhammer and 40K events in the centre of the hall. Hope to see you on the day!

This is Exmouth Imperials second year of running Legionary on our own. We had a very successful introduction to running the show on our own in 2012.
This year we want to concentrate on making this a show where people get involved. So, tournaments, demonstration games, and participation games are our priority. We want people to have fun when they come to Legionary, So please come and get involved.  If you’d like to run a game or have a trade stand at the show then please contact j_ewins@yahoo.com for details.
We will still have our impressive list of traders, and our bring and buy.  We have a truly wide spread of genres, reflecting the diversity of our club and South West wargaming in general. So if you come to Legionary (which we hope you will!) you can experience wargaming that is historical, fantasy, sci fi, and pulp.  Last year was our best ever for tournament numbers, and we would like make this a bigger year still. There will be more people managing this area, and we will be using standard missions with new edition rules. We look forward to seeing you in May.

As anyone at the show on Saturday should have guessed, we’re doing it again next year.  Legionary 2013 will be at the Matford Centre on May 4th 2013.  A big thank you to everyone who came along, put on games, played in our first tournaments and gave advice for this year and next, to all our traders, and to Robin from Rygas for the website and Dave O for helping with terrain and transport.  See you all in 359 days.
